I remember when digital camera’s were more or less a novelty item and 3 megapixels was something to brag about.  There’s been a lot of innovation to the digital camera world and digital cameras have all but replaced their filmy predecessors.

There are a number of high priced, high end camera’s on the market like the 36.4 MP Nikon™ D800, which runs from around 4000.00 USD to 7,000.00 USD (with lens), the 22.3 megapixel Canon™ EOS 5D Mark III, which also runs in the 5,000.00 USD realm (with lens), but the Hasselblad™ H4D-60 (the very name “Hasselblad” denotes success and money) blows these high priced competitors out of the water clocking in at over 40,000.00 USD – that’s right – over forty-thousand United States dollars, making this camera the highest priced full production digital camera on earth.

So why is this camera more expensive than most cars?  There are actually some pretty incredible on board features (as you might expect), like this camera’s mind blowing 60 megapixel 40 x 54 mm sensor, groundbreaking “Absolute Position Lock” processor and Hasselblad’s own patented “True Focus” system which allows for a perpetually perfect focus that requires no adjustment from the photographer.  Aside from world class Swedish engineering and design, Hasselblad purchasers also get exclusive access to the elite Hasselblad Owners Club as well as Hasselblad referrals to posh photo shooting opportunities.

In short, Hasselblad H4D-60 is in a class of it’s own and can’t even be compared to conventional digital camera’s since its technology is almost entirely the dream child of this Swedish company.  It is the Bugatti or Lamborghini of digital cameras and for those with the means to purchase it, I am sure it will not disappoint.  This photographer however, will not be getting one of these any time soon.
